I have never met anyone that wants to eat sandwiches for lunch every day, how boring. Below are some of my favourite healthy lunch ideas that don’t include a sandwich!

  1. Tuna Melt – mix a can of tuna with a dab of mayo and fresh cracked pepper. Spread on bread (or I use an english muffin) and sprinkle with cheese. Bake at 475° until cheese is melted and bubbling. Serve with a side of veggies. (ex. carrot sticks, cucumber or celery sticks)
  2. Turkey Wrap – fill a whole wheat wrap with turkey breast, swiss cheese, mustard, lettuce and tomatoes! You could really fill it with any toppings! I usually serve with fresh fruit such as melon, pineapple,bananas or berries.
  3. Pinwheels – one of the most versatile options. Spread your toppings on a tortilla, roll up and cut into bite sized pieces. Some of my favourites are, tuna & ranch, cucumber & cream cheese, salsa, sour cream & cheese or skinnycow cheese spread with turkey breast and lettuce! So yummy. Usually I serve with a side of pickles, or fresh veggies.
  4. Power Bowl – make a smoothie and top with superfoods! I usually make a smoothie with almond milk, frozen berries, mixed supplements, bran and protein powder +Greens. I make my smoothie thick, almost like a frozen yogurt so it can be eaten with a spoon. Then I top with berries,bananas,nuts,coconut and seeds.
  5. Graze Tray – mix up a bunch of stuff, throw it on a plate and munch away! This is one of my most frequent lunches because its so easy. I try to balance it out and use foods from all food groups. An example for me would be cheese, crackers, pickles, yogurt, apple & pb, fresh veggies with dip, deli meat and nuts.
  6. Salads – mix up caesar, greek or any kind of salad! One of my favourites is iceberg lettuce, spinach, carrots, cucumber, broccoli, grated cheese, chicken & french dressing. Also delicious topped with ranch!
  7. Pasta Salad – cook and cool pasta (I use brown or tri-colour).For a great greek pasta salad; Add in chopped red onion and green pepper. Also mix in feta cheese and black olives. Toss in a mix of greek/zesty italian salad dressings. Tuna pasta salad is another good one.
